Watson & Son Manuka Honey is harvested from some of the most remote and pristine regions of New Zealand from the flowers of our native Manuka tree. It is a unique taonga (treasure) of our land. Naturally occurring Methylglyoxal is an ingredient present in Manuka honey. We guarantee that all our Manuka honey is tested and verified for its Methylglyoxal content, measured in mg /kg. The Molan Gold Standard™ (MGS) was developed and named after the scientist who discovered the special antibacterial properties of Manuka Honey. Dr. Peter Molan is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading honey scientists. The Molan Gold Standard™ is a grading system that has been reviewed by the Ministry for Primary Industries of New Zealand to ensure that it meets legislative requirements. It appraises the natural marker methylglyoxal (MGO) found in Manuka Honey, and assures purity and quality.
